Most shelters give you a roof and leave the sides open, which is lovely at noon and unbearable at dusk. Basecamp XL closes all six of them in fine mesh, so you get shade and a bug-free room — one you can actually sit in from breakfast until the fire dies down. Six solid wind panels roll down when you want privacy, a windbreak, or a bit of cover from the weather. 12' x 12' of floor and 7'6" at the peak, so nobody's ducking. Fits a picnic table, two coolers and five people with room left to walk around — or a full patio set without rearranging your deck.

Roll them down for privacy, shade, or a break from the wind. Roll them up and every side breathes. Two panels have windows, so you keep the airflow and the view either way.

Spread the sides out, push the centre hub up, peg the corners. No poles to thread, no numbered parts on the grass, no tools. One person can do it — most people manage it on their first try.

An inner steel frame with 11 ground stakes and 5 guy ropes included, so it holds through a normal gusty afternoon. Reinforced corners and a two-sided zipper that runs smoothly with a hand full of marshmallow sticks.

35 lbs, into a carry bag, into the trunk. It lives in the garage in the off-season and comes out whenever the weather turns nice.

    We ordered too many for the season. That's the whole story — these are brand new, current-run units sitting in a Canadian warehouse, and we'd rather they were out at a campsite than on a shelf.

    Same gazebo, same materials, same 30-day returns. When the overstock is gone the price goes back up, but there's no countdown clock here — just a good tent at a good number while we've got them.

      FAQ's

      Can one person set it up?

      Yes, and most people do. Spread the sides out, stand in the middle, push the centre hub up until it locks, then peg the corners. Your first go might take a couple of minutes while you work out where to stand; after that it's about a minute. Taking it down has a knack to it — watch the video once and you'll have it.

      Staked and roped, it's happy through a normal gusty day — that's what the 11 stakes and 5 guy ropes are for, and it's why they're in the box. If there's a real storm coming, take it down. It's a fabric pop-up shelter, not a permanent structure, and a minute of work saves you a tent.

      The top is IPX3 water-resistant 300D Oxford with a UV-proof coating. It's great for sun and it'll see you through a normal shower. For a long, heavy soak we'd suggest adding a rain fly on top — we'd rather tell you that now than have you find out in July.

      Not with the panels rolled up. All six sides are mesh, so air moves through it the way it never does in a walled tent. On a scorcher, leave the panels up and let the top do the shading — that's how most people use it.

      12' x 12' with 7'6" in the middle takes a six-seat table with room to walk around, or a picnic table plus two coolers plus five chairs. If your space is tight, go with the 10' x 10'.

      About 76" x 8" x 8" in the carry bag, and 35 lbs. It fits in most trunks and lives easily on a garage shelf over the winter.

      Plenty of people do, with a cot or an inner tent. The panels roll down for privacy and wind. Just note there's no floor — if you want to sleep in it, bring a tarp or a footprint.

      We over-ordered for the season and we're clearing it out. Same brand new unit, same 30-day returns. The only difference is the number.
